Wingate’s Lunker Lodge hosts 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off

Halloween means two different things in Recovery, GA. You’ve got your usual Tricks and Treats, but there is also now a Chili Cook-off that’s becoming quite popular. On Wednesday night the 2nd annual Halloween Chili Cook-off was held at Wingate’s Lunker Lodge with lots of participants and tasters. In the Unusual Category, Dub Cason, the Recovery Fire Chief, took 1st and 2nd places and Lydia Barineau took 3rd. In the Hot Category, Sherry Haley came in first place with Kathy Whatley hot on her trail in 2nd place. In the Regular Category, Sharon Gray came in 1st, Edna Predmore came in 2nd and Prissy Barber came in 3rd. The Grand Prize Winner was Diann Smith. Judging the contest were Jack Hays, Tina Barfield and Louie Ojeda. They said this year’s judging was especially hard as all of the chili was excellent.
